Montserrat provides a wealth of research for students of volcanology and environmental science.

THE MVO

With high-tech scientific instruments, MVO monitors the volcano daily. It is therefore in a position to offer valuable internship and volunteer programs to help the advancement of students and recent graduates. Soufriere Hills is currently the only and longest-active volcano in the Carribean. It offers insights in its subtle alteration of our daily lives, crops, wildlife, and physical landscape.

ORGANIZE A FIELD TRIP

A volcanology or environmental science field trip in Montserrat is more than experiential learning for a student. A trip may include measuring the volcano’s dome and gas activity, examining shifts in gravity, hiking to research plants, and learning about the reptiles and birds that are susceptible to volcanic emissions. Besides an opportunity to work in fascinating surroundings, teachers and students can interact with a community after class and participate in a new culture.
